Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Good morning to all!

My name is Chelsey and you have found my new blog! This will be my connection to all of my hobbies.

I consider myself a farmgirl...or at least a farmgirl at heart (I do not actually own my own farm, although I would like to very much). Farmgirls, according to MaryJane Butters on her website www.maryjanesfarm.org, are multi-talented, resourceful, creative, strong, down-to-earth, and generous by nature. They enjoy creating things, whether it is in the kitchen, their studios, or the wood shop. They may not live in the country, but friendship, fun, community, and creativity bloom wherever they happen to be “planted.”

I love the simpler way of living. I enjoy making things with my own two hands and handicrafts are some of my favorite hobbies. I am an avid knitter and I am learning to sew (I want to make some aprons and such). I am learning embroidery. I love to bake and to especially bake homemade bread from scratch and all by hand (a real workout). I really enjoy cooking. I love wearing my aprons while I work. I even like hand-writing letters to my favorite people!

I absolutely love things from the past and antiquing! When I was a little girl my mother always took me to antique stores. I learned to love and value vintage and antique items. They make me smile! I still go antiquing with her now! Things from the past are of such a better quality than items sold in stores now...there is a reason why they are still here. Craftsmanship seems to be lost in the world today...and I don't want it to be. I think that every one should learn to sew or knit or something and produce something by using their very own two hands! It creates a wonderful feeling in the creator.

I love collecting and have many collections. I will list a few of my favorite things to collect, but I probably will miss a few. I collect Peggy Nisbet dolls (vintage dolls depicting historical nobles), vintage aprons, vintage sewing notions, buttons, anything with relation to the Tudors/Elizabethans, dollhouse miniatures, MaryJane's Farm magazine, and Books to name a few.

Collections are great! Each one keeps leading me to another interesting topic and area to collect in and research.
